We went up to the Nachusa Grasslands, a prairie restoration of The Nature Conservancy between Oregon and Dixon, IL. Wasn't quite as full of color as I had hoped but we saw some neat stuff including buffalo. And we proved that at least some of our naturalist training for B has paid off - the kid identified milkweed, coneflowers and lead plant by himself! But...he did have to take his cement mixer on our hike so not quite a full fledged naturalist yet.
